Yes, Dictiation pro can capture voice and transcribe it to the document opened in the program. You will need a microphone for this job. When all the requirements have been met, turn on the microphone and start the application. Click on New Document then you can start talking and the software will capture what you say and transcribe it to the document.

I would like to set the program to recognize certain words. There are certain words that no matter how slow and clear I say them, the program writes them wrong (ex. "beauty"). Is there a way to tell the program what is the correct form of a certain word?

Yes. The program has such a feature. To add a word, you need to open the application, go to Speech > Add word. Enter the word and click the Speak Word / Phrase button. Once you are done, speak the word that you've just put and click Accept. By doing this, the word / phrase is automatically added to the dictionary and the program will recognize it right away.

On the official website, the developer states that this program is designed to run on Windows Vista or Windows 7. You can try to install it on your Windows XP machine. It's most likely that it will be compatible.
